Bursaries offered
External bursaries
Bursary loans are available for members of Solidarity and their children to study at any accredited tertiary institution. Such a bursary loan pays out either R5 000,00, or R10 000 per successful application per year and is repayable after a student has completed his or her studies. The bursary loan is interest free. If you are interested in applying for a bursary loan, you can download the application form from the website. Alternatively, you can request a form and it will be mailed to you. Application forms are also obtainable from Solidarity’s head office and branch offices.
Sol-Tech bursaries
Solidarity members or children of Solidarity members who are enrolled at Sol-Tech, Solidarity’s training college, are eligible for a Sol-Tech bursary loan. Such a bursary loan pays out either R5 000,00, or R10 000,00 per successful application per year and is repayable after a student has completed his or her apprenticeship. The bursary loan is interest free. Students who would like to apply for a bursary can contact Ms Dinah Theron on tel. 012 644 4428 or e-mail dinah@solidariteit.co.za or melani@helpendehand.co.za. An application form will be mailed to them. Application forms are also obtainable from Solidarity’s head office and branch offices.

Independent community bursaries
Students whose courses fall in certain fields of study are eligible for independent community bursaries financed by businessmen and -women and small businesses. Such a bursary loan is paid out in accordance with specific conditions per successful application per year and is repayable after a student has completed his or her studies. The bursary loan is interest free. Sheldean Human Memorial Bursary
This bursary is available for students who are South African citizens and who do doctoral research on social issues or the children of South Africa. The bursary pays out R10 000,00 per successful application per year and is repayable after a student has completed his or her studies. The bursary loan is interest free. Bursary loans of the Rapport Onderwysfonds (ROF)
The Afrikaans Bursary Fund and Career Guidance Institute has administrated these bursary loans since 1 February 2009.
