Helping Hand and Autism SA releases report about Autism at Clover AardklopAccording to Anna Atkins, Director of the Association for Autism and the parent of an autistic person, – schools for children with disabilities prepare autistic children for adulthood, but few schools cater for the needs of children in the autism spectrum. “The family of an autistic person is under tremendous financial pressure if that person was not prepared to become an active member of society during his or her school-going years,” she says. “However, with the right therapy and the involvement of parents and thanks to constitutional rights, people with autism can lead a quality life.”
